The main house and caretaker's cottage were built in 1996. The 2.5 hectares of land was formerly a coconut plantation. The property was fenced with hollow blocks and chain link. Landscaping started with a few gardenias, bougainvillas, hibiscus and umbrella trees. Today, the garden has over 100 varieties of native and imported shrubs, ornamental plants, palm and fruit trees. The garden was designed, to insure there will be blooming plants the whole year. The garden is accented with statuaries, potteries and solar lights( for enjoyment of the garden at night)
Cashews, Chicos, Durians, Guayabanos, Guavas, Jackfruits, Lanzones, Rambutans, santols and starapples are some of the fruit trees growing well in the orchard. Several varieties of mangoes, bananas and papayas as well as Citrus trees thrive very well under the care of a full-time gardener. Some of my favorite ornamentals are the poinsettias, durantas, gardenias and plumerias. The garden is also a haven for birds, bees and several varieties of butterflies.
The creek by the side of the beach house is populated by several species of native fish and crabs. Last year we raised tilapias until they grow to about five pounds.
On summer nights the air is filled with fragrance of blooming sampaguitas and Ylang-Ylang trees. In addition, thousands of fireflies nesting in the firetrees illuminate the garden even in a moonlees night.
The coconut and papaya trees that were recently uprooted by typhoon Reming have been replaced by dwarf and semi-dwarf varieties.
